Use actual dimensions for a stronger estimate. Quick mode uses typical opening sizes and shows a lower-confidence result.

i

The estimator provides an indicative material-substitution estimate. It is not a full lifecycle assessment, carbon claim or independently audited environmental certification.

Windows

Quantity and average opening size.

×

Quick mode uses 4 × 4 ft per window.

Doors

Include hinged, sliding and entrance openings.

×

Quick mode uses 3.5 × 7 ft per door.

Partitions

Total framed partition area, where applicable.

How the estimate works

The estimator converts the supplied opening and partition area into an indicative conventional timber-frame volume. It applies separate component coefficients and a processing-waste allowance, then presents a tree-equivalent range.

TIMBER VOLUME = COMPONENT AREA × COEFFICIENT × WASTE FACTOR
Current methodology coefficients
ComponentCoefficient
Window0.03 m³/m²
Door0.045 m³/m²
Partition0.035 m³/m²
Processing waste15%
Usable timber per tree0.35–0.55 m³
What the estimator does not measure

It does not compare embodied carbon, energy, transport, thermal performance, maintenance, product life or end-of-life recovery. Those require product-specific lifecycle data and a defined assessment boundary.
